英語のビジネスメールでよく使うフレーズ <主張>

ビジネスシーンにおいて「主張する」ことは重要な要素です。どんなニュアンスで主張するかによって、使う単語が変わってきます。誤解を招かないように、文脈に即した主張を表現する単語の使い分けと、主張の意図を表すいくつかのフレーズをご紹介します。

主張を意味する単語の使い分け

(証拠を出さずに~であると)主張する  claim

英英辞典: to state that something is true, even though it has not been proved
(証明されていないにもかかわらず、何かが真実であると述べること)

例文: He claimed that the sales representative lied about his product.
(彼は、その営業担当者が商品に関してうそをついたと主張しました)

(論拠を示して相手を説得するために)主張する  argue

英英辞典: to state, giving clear reasons, that something is true, should be done etc
(明確な理由を与えつつ、何かが真実である、すべきであることなどを述べること)

例文: The United States has argued that there is a barrier creating unfair competition between its cars and other cars sold in Japan.
(米国は、アメリカ車と日本で販売されている他の車との間に、不公平な競争を強いるバリアがあると主張しています)

(~であると)きっぱりと言いきる  assert

(何かが真実であるとはっきり述べる)

例文: The Diet has been pressing the premier to assert Japan's rights to the four islands.
(国会は、この 4 島に対する日本の権利を主張するよう首相に圧力をかけている)

(反対する人がいるにもかかわらず)はっきりと主張する  insist

英英辞典: to say firmly and often that something is true, especially when other people think it may not be true
(特に他の人がそれが真実ではないと思っている時に、何かが真実であるとはっきりと言う)

例文: He was stubborn, insisting that he don't pay for late payment charge.

しつこく言い続ける主張  persist
